Book Study: The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer
Join other Lake Forest men as we read and discuss the book The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer that challenges the culture of busyness and constant distraction. Comer argues that hurry is one of the greatest threats to spiritual life and emotional health, and he invites readers to slow down by intentionally adopting practices from the life of Jesus—such as silence, rest, simplicity, and Sabbath. The book encourages a calmer, more purposeful way of living that makes space for deeper faith, healthier relationships, and inner peace.
The book is available from one of the vendors listed here.
Thursdays from 7-8:30 pm, beginning January 29.

This eight-week men’s study invites us to discover the unhurried way of Jesus, belong to a community shaped by faithfulness, share a life rooted in God’s story, and go as men committed to lifelong obedience. Guided by Eugene Peterson, we will learn from the Psalms that discipleship is not about intensity or speed, but about steady faithfulness in the same direction.
After five weeks with Peterson, we’ll have a few weeks to look at spiritual disciplines - putting what we’re learning into practice!
Join Pastor Scott for this study of Eugene Peterson’s classic work on discipleship, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction. Make sure to pick up a copy HERE or your favorite book retailer!
We’ll meet Saturday mornings from 6am-7:30am at Lake Forest.
