Fourth & fifth graders; join us for a two-day mission trip to the Wade Center in Bluefield, WV, from Friday, March 21st to Saturday, March 22nd. We’ll depart Lake Forest at 5:30 PM on Friday, enjoy dinner en route, and receive an introduction to the Wade Center’s mission, followed by a devotional. Saturday will be dedicated to service projects at the Wade Center and in the community, concluding around 4:00 PM before returning to Lake Forest by 8:00 PM.

June 15th-20th

We will partner with the Wade Center in Bluefield, WV for a week of service to love our neighbors in need. The basic schedule will be leaving on Sunday afternoon and returning on Friday afternoon. During the week, we will have a service project in the morning, and another one in the afternoon. After dinner is a time for worship and games. All meals and lodging will be provided by the Wade Center. The service project will be geared to this age group including helping with a reading program (reading to K-2 kids in a summer camp), projects around the Wade Center, helping with and serving meals, organizing donations at the food and clothing center, etc. The cost is $350 for the week.

This trip is limited to 16 kids. Please note that a $100 deposit is due at registration with the remaining balance due in May.

Parents: We need amazing chaperones. Again, we are limited in size with 4 opening for adults. A few things to keep in mind if you are interested:

- You may be needed to drive to help with transportation

- You will need to be available to leave with the group on Sunday afternoon (June 18th) and return with the group on Friday afternoon (June 23th)

- You will need to stay with the group the whole time (no sneaking off to the movies 😊)

- You will be asked to help with activities.

- You must be ready to have an amazing time with an amazing group of kids.

- We will provide a discount on cost for parents that are willing to help.

Where: Western N.C.

Hurricane Helene’s devastation in Western North Carolina has left communities reeling, but local churches are stepping up to offer help and hope. Lake Forest Church will partner with Valley Hope Church to aid in the recovery efforts. We’ll travel to the affected areas to reconstruct homes, clear debris, and share the hope of Christ with those impacted. While no experience is required, DIY and construction skills are a valuable asset for this important mission.

Join the team for the Appalachian Service Project in Jonesville, Virginia this October! This trip is perfect for everyone, regardless of your missions experience, so long as you are 7th grade and up (Middle schoolers must be accompanied by an adult; high schoolers do not.)

Our team will be assigned to home projects, designed to make houses safer, warmer, and drier. We’ll be putting siding on homes, re-flooring spaces, and cleaning up damage. Don’t worry if none of this is in your wheelhouse; we’ll be training everyone who goes on the trip during the month of September.
